why can't the east demand some states in the north and SW be merged ?

It has to do with productivity and not equality as you people call it.

For instance why can't lagos and Ogun merge ? why can't cross river and akwa ibom merge etc

Moreover majority of the people that commented here like gar3th and co are from the SS so stop ur fixation on the north and South west.

Most of the time, the Larger a state in land mass, the less development it receives.

Imagine it this way, there are two related families that both have 5 people and receive N100 daily for food. If they combine that will make 10 people feeding on food meant for 5.

Also the entire reason for zones and states is based on ethnicity. Ibibio amd Efik are very close but not the same hence they live in different states.

like i said zone is a PDP matter it is not in our constitution and not reflected anywhere outside the PDP

Oga stop derailing the thread.
The SE governors have made a very serious, responsible, and meritorious case for equalization of states based on the current 6 geo-politiacl Zones, that i sthe essence of this tread. Reasonable posters agreed that their request is fair enough. Attempting to derail the thread is typical of the entrenched bias and ethnic bigotry masked as intelligentsia, frequently exhibited  by certainly segment of a supposedly enlightened zone!

How can you make a case when you dont even know what you are talking about?

You already claimed Military were responsible for regions and before we knew it claimed ethnicity is another reason for State creation

Why should anyone take your opinions seriously?

How can an area with that very small land mass and low population ask for more states when there are more densely populated areas which need more govt presence.

Or are states just created to decorate the landscape?
